Holy crap, when did we become such a bunch of moaners. What on earth is wrong with someone wanting to hitch? Perhaps they can't afford a car, perhaps they have different priorties in life. All of you people have just slayed this person.

I pick up hitch-hikers at every oppurtunity that I have, unless they are smoking, or lookn like they're going to rob me (I know common misconceptions and what not).

But come on people, if you're going in the same direction, and you've got a spare seat then what's the issue with giving them a lift, sure it might cost you a few cents in extra gas, but for goodness sake people, help out your fellow man.

What a moaning, ungrateful b**ch you are. Get the F**K off your soap box and do something with your life instead of expecting others to do it for you. Why the hell should anyone pick up hitchhikers again after reading your comments. There are thousands of reasons as to why people don't want to pick up losers standing on the side of the road like you, one of which is that you are just that ...losers. I have picked up hitchikers and they have genaerally been people that either they look like they really need the ride and aren't dressed in designer gear and I am going further than the supermarket. It is a priviledge not a right that someone picks you up, by getting into someones car they are allowing you into their personal space and not everyone wants that stunk up, as believe me, some hitchikers really stink and you can't tell until they are in your car. Use some of your rich families money from the UK and put something into the area rather than taking it away.

OMG... Yes you are bludgers! If you don't like the wait get a car, pay for a bus. I do pick up the odd hitch hiker in qt as it seems to be such a common occurence to see them on the road side. Isn't waiting for a ride part of hitch hiking? Alot of us aren't going far enough to warrant picking you up or have a car full all ready. Youre rant really does't do justice to the appreciative hitch hikers out there.

Karen, WTF.. i have just spent 5 minutes of my life reading your 7 paragraph long whinge and you cant even wait 5 minutes on the side of a gorgeous road with great views on a summers day because you are too lazy to walk in your expensive walking boots. How about you sell your expensive unused walking boots and use the money to buy yourself a car, dont waste money on things you're not going to use! If you are in a rush; get the bus, a bigger rush, get a taxi! I will keep this brief, get a life, dont complain about people doing you a favour, relax.. after all you do live in paradise!
... and you've got a pizza for that whinge???? It is a free pizza so please do appreciate it and be patient when you go get it since you might have to wait for it to be cooked. Also, if you do decide to whinge about how long it takes remember that other people around you actually paid for it.
Karen, honestly, get a car and some common sense. Putting your thumb up on side of the road doesn't automatically justify a free lift. And if you know international finger practice then I believe that my reponse to you is my middle finger up in the air and a friendly smile with a badly shaven face.

Dude, are you actually complaining about not getting something for free fast enough?? You cant be serious. Just like having a car has a downside of being in traffic or finding a park, hitch hiking has a downside of waiting a little longer to get somewhere than if you had your own car. A lil patience & I think you'd find a solution to your problem. I can't believe you got a pizza for that whinge.

Karen. Get a job save some money and buy a car. Why on earth should anyone feel compelled to pick up some freeloader with an attitude. If you've got expensive hiking shoes then walk! Send in a photo of you both and I will tell you why no-one wants to pick you up. The fact that you need to shave tells me volumes!

Why do hitch hikers feel they have a right to be given a ride? I do not pick up hitchers I choose to have a car and I pay all the bills for it, I don't see why I should foot someone else's bills. It takes 25 minutes to walk to town from Fernhill much the same from the Rees on Frankton road

Dear Karen, I have compiled a small list of reasons why you may have not been picked up while hitchhiking, perhaps you could remind yourself of these next time you get passed by and thus hopefully suppressing your need to begin a longwinded mental rant that you will later bore the rest of us with when it is published in the Lakes Weekly
1) The drivers Nana is sleeping in the back, she is tired and does not want to have to share the seat with you
2) Because you have not made an effort, I like my hitchhikers to dress up like serial killing vagrants and carry a sign that says "Anywhere" This hilarious attempt at irony warrants me giving them a ride
3) The driver has a dead body in the car boot and would prefer not to have to try and stuff your luggage around it
I hope this appeases you when your struggling to get a ride.
As a side note the longest I have ever waited for a ride is 9 minutes so yes hitchhiking is still alive and well.
