Increasing Slopes
Whilst I do note that NZski have spent a huge amount of money over the last couple of years on Coronet Peak to make the mountain more enjoyable, supposedly, it also has made the mountains capacity increase aswell. Which whilst great from their perspective, is not so great from mine, more people on a mountain of the same size at a more expensive place, in effect, a smaller area for me to ski on, so it’s heartbreaking to learn that I won’t be able to afford a season’s pass this year. I’ve watched season passes increase in value steadily enough over the last 5 years whilst watching the amount of people who can’t ski that well (yet) on the mountain increase as well with the increased learners area, the better base building for lattes and lunches, then you get told off for just wanting to ski your normal style - “you’re going too fast” “slow down” ok sure there are other people on the mountain, I agree. But I am not going to pay $800, which is a huge amount of money in anybodies terms, to ski on a mountain (Coronet Peak) which pretty much caters to the learners, yes NZSKI I am aware that X% of the mountain is intermediate and advanced, I don’t really want to know the statistics, what I want is an affordable pass at a mountain where I can ski the way I want without being mollycuddled by people who think they are the worlds greatest skiers and boarders because they work on a mountain. And NZSKI, whilst I am sorry to say it, that after being a life-long supporter of Coronet Peak, you’ve finally chased me away with your money grabbing ways and your failure to look after your bread and butter, so with that NZSKI, I bid you farewell, and will take my hard earned money to Cardrona and spend my winter there.

An idea

Here's an idea. Why dont you look at how many previous seasons passes people have brought and deduct an amount of new season passes. Like Cardrona have done? maybe if you have had 1-2 $50 off, 3-4 $100 off and 5 plus $200. Just a thought but i'm sure nzski will give it even less thought!

if anyone thinks that nzski's facilities are world class then they should take a look around the world at other resorts. i had a quick look at workers passes in a couple of european resorts, st anton and alpe d'huez, and at todays exchange rate come in at below $680, that is of course comparing a workers pass to an earlybird which i'm sure some won't see as a fair comparison but believe me, even at twice the price you get an incomparable mountain, i've been over nzski's prices for the last couple of years and i don't bother with them anymore, get out a map, go hiking and go backcountry, much more rewarding!

Having moved back to Oz, I think everyone should just pay the cash and get up the mountain and enjoy what I think is the best place on earth. Otherwise come and spend a boring winter with me.

Oh yeah and get a life man, pretty arrogant of you to say that the mountains are the only thing that people come to town for, get over yourself, you ain't nothing to the rest of the businesses around here, not everyone comes here to enjoy the snow in winter, so if you think your winter advertising is all that makes this town great you are a fool

I live in Frankton and for me to travel to Cardrona it's 35km, and to get to Coronet it's 22km (thank you google earth) so an extra 13km distance, or at 10l/100km an extra 4 bucks, or if I fill my car up with 4 people, an extra buck. Also Cardrona now has the most vert out of any mountain in the south island, heaps of different terrain, sick facilities, awesome comps (hello Burton!). All for $560.00 (yeah cardies hook me up a pass for my awesome speil) OR I can travel 13km less (oh an no damage my car on gravel? Gravel damages my car?? haha, whatever no more than the slippery icy slope that seal causes) and pay 800 hundy to ski on a mountain that is littler, has more people, is more spensy, and takes forever to walk to the bottom from teh car park if you are ten mins late.
Whatever Coronet Peak you are a RIP OFF, hey I'm not whinging mr white and i have got a life, Im just calling it as I see it - enjoy coronet, you must be minted

Sounds to me like the 'white stuff' - despite 'what get a life' says, work for NZSKI I cant see anyone else agreeing that $799 is value for money.
Its funny how they keep going on about the improvements to Coronet peak, not all of us choose to ski there! What about the Remarkables? What improvements are we looking at? The Stash 3 seasons ago? That Burton contributed money to? Hmmm not much else..... And again, most locals are happy to drive themselves up, use the lifts and go home, so dont keep ramming down our throats about your fancy Coronet base building and beginner facilities. What will the price of early bird passes be if you ever spend a decent amount of money on the Remarkables? $1600??
How bout if NZSKIwants some respect from locals they respect us? Of course it will cost heaps in fuel to go over to Cardrona is that why they think they can keep jacking up prices because technically if we want to make a stand about money it will end up costing us more?
